Saturday, February 4th is Take Your Child to the Library Day. In honor of the day, the Southington Library presents Farmer Minor & Daisy’s Pig Out on Reading program. The program is for all ages and will be held at 3:00PM. In person registration is required for this event. Come meet Daisy, the famous pot belly pig and find out what her favorite books are.
New For Tales & Tunes and Storytime

New for the Winter sessions of Tales & Tunes For Tots and Storytime, our classes are now drop in. For 1s and 2s, classes will be held on Thursdays at 9:30 or 10:30. A class for or 3s will be held on Mondays at 9:30. A class for 4s and 5s will be held on Mondays at 10:30. In order to accommodate as many people as possible, each child may attend only 1 class per day.
Beginning at 9:00AM on the day of the program, parents or caregivers may come to the Children’s Services Desk and pick up a ticket for either class. Tickets are issued on a first come, first served basis. Due to fire regulations, a ticket must be presented at the door in order to take part in that morning’s class. Once all the tickets for the class have been issued, the class will be closed and no further participants may attend. Tickets are not reusable or transferrable.
The dates for the Winter Sessions are:
Tales & Tunes For Tots (1s and 2s) – Thursday, January 26, February 2, 9, 16 & 23.
Storytime For 3s – Mondays, January 23, 30, February 6, 27, March 5 at 9:30.
Storytime For 4s & 5 – Mondays, January 23, 30, February 6, 27, March 5 at 10:30.

Children’s Theater Group

If you have a child in 3rd grade through 8th grade with a flair for the dramatic, come to the Southington Library and register for the Library’s Theater Games programs on Monday January 3rd at 4:00 p.m. and/or Tuesday, January 9th at 4:00 p.m.
An audition for this year’s children’s play will be held on Monday, January 23rd at 4:00PM. In order to register to audition for the play, children must have attended at least one Theater Games class. Children may come to the library at any time during Monday, December 5th, 12th and 19th to create a gift for someone special on their holiday gift list. Each week a new craft will be available at the Children’s Services Desk for children of all ages to create that special, personalized present for a teacher, grandparent, sibling or even themselves.

Registration For Holiday Storytime & Tales & Tunes For Tots

Registration for our three week Holiday Storytime and Tales & Tunes For Tots will take place tomorrow, Thursday, November 3, 2011, beginning at 9:00AM. Southington residents may register online or in person at the Children’s Services Desk. Remember to register your child for the age appropriate class. This is determined by using the child’s age on the date of registration.
In order to complete your registration you must come to the library and sign the Attendance Contract before the day of the first class. In order to provide the opportunity for as many children as possible to attend Storytime or Tales & Tunes For Tots, we must remove the name of any child whose contract remains unsigned the day before their first class.
