Southington School Summer Reading List K-5

This information comes directly from the Southington Public School’s Web Site.  We hope you find it helpful.  If you have any questions about the availability of any of the books on any of the lists, please consult the library’s card catalog, stop by the Children’s Services Desk or contact the Children’s Department at 860-628-0947 X3.

The Southington Public School District encourages learning throughout the summer weeks. A letter is included in the links below for each grade level to inform you of our summer reading expectations. In collaboration with the Governor’s Reading Challenge, all elementary schools are participating in this joint summer reading program. Please find the following information available to print for each grade level.

  • The Reading List, compiled by grade and author, can be found in each of the links below. It is meant as a guide to assist your child in selecting materials to read. Any other selections chosen by your child, such as newspapers, magazines, and computer interactive books are also encouraged.
  • The Governor’s Reading Challenge Recording Sheet is the only form on which your child is asked to list the title of books read.
  • Parent/Student Signature Form to be completed and signed.

On AUGUST 29th, your child should return The Governor’s Reading Challenge Form and the Parent/Student Signature Form to the classroom teacher. Please work with us to support your child’s learning by maintaining and promoting a love for reading through the completion of this program.
